“European Christmas Carols” with Nathalie Merfort and Svetlana Lohman on 15th December

Natalie Merfort – soprano

In 1990 Nathalie Merfort, a Luxembourg national, began her studies in classical singing under Margarete Pape in Berlin, Germany. In 2000 she graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory, Holland in Jazz and Pop music as well as getting a scholarship to the Berklee Collage of music in Boston, USA.

Natalie works as a singer / songwriter and accompanies herself on the piano. Natalie is choir director of different world-music/ pop choirs such as Hakuna Matata, Nada te turbe and The rhythm of life and has been giving vocal classes and workshops in the cultural center Orion in Rotterdam. She writes her own arrangements and has been working for over 15 years as a vocal coach.

She currently also teaches voice at the music school Vonk in Waddinxveen, Holland. She regularly performs as a soloist in churches and worked together with organists such as Arjen Leistra, Eric Koevoets, Wouter van der Wilt and Cees van der Slik.
Her beautiful soprano, especially in combination with the acoustics of a church, will give you goose bumps…

 

 

Svetlana Lohman – Piano

The Russian born Svetlana Lohman studied music theory and piano at the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg, where in her own words, the lessons of Faina Raiskaja had a decisive influence on her piano playing. In addition, she obtained her doctorate in philosophy and took courses in art history. In Russia, she taught music theory, piano and art history at the Herzen University.

She gives private piano lessons and teaches piano and music theory at the Russian school of Arts in Rotterdam.

She also plays chamber music in various ensembles and sang in the choir of Russian Orthodox music specialist Oktoich giving national and international performances.
