Publié le mercredi 07 octobre 2015

On 7th October 2015, the joint Luxembourg-Dutch presidency of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) started off in Rotterdam. The Missile Technology Control Regime is an informal and voluntary association of countries which share the goals of non-proliferation of unmanned delivery systems capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction, and which seek to coordinate national export licensing efforts aimed at preventing their proliferation. Examples of such weapons would be ballistic missiles, unmanned planes and cruise missiles.

The Luxembourg and Dutch Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Asselborn and Koenders, opened the conference on Wednesday. Subsequently, Ambassador Piet de Klerk took over the presidency gavel from the previous Norwegian president, Ambassador Roald Naess. The Luxembourg-Dutch presidency will end with the next plenary meeting, taking place in October 2016.
