Visite des Ambassadeurs UE auprès de l’Office Benelux de la Propriété intellectuelle (OBPI)
L’Ambassade du Luxembourg avait invité ce 10 novembre 2015 dans le cadre de la présidence du Conseil de l’UE à une visite d’information auprès de l’OBPI installé à La Haye. Le groupe des Ambassadeurs fut reçu à cette occasion par le Directeur Général de l’OBPI, M. Edmond Simon, pour une séance de travail portant sur les principaux objectifs de l’organisation, confirmant ainsi la pertinence continue de cet office commun créé en 1971.

About BOIP
The Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) is the official body in the Benelux region responsible for the registration of trademarks and industrial designs. BOIP is part of the Benelux Organisation for Intellectual Property, an international organisation that has been established by the Benelux Convention on Intellectual Property and is monitored by its Executive Board. This Board is manned by representatives from all three Benelux countries.
The Organisation has been assigned the following tasks and duties:
a. to execute the Convention and the implementing regulations;
b. to promote the protection of trademarks and designs in the Benelux countries;
c. to carry out additional tasks in other fields of intellectual property law, as directed by the Executive Board;
d. continual evaluation and, if necessary, amendment of the Benelux legislation on trademarks and designs, in the light of international, Community and other developments.
The Office
The Benelux Office for Intellectual Property is the most visible part of the Benelux Organisation. This office carries out all work connected with the implementation of the legislation governing trademarks, drawings and designs and the i-DEPOT. Approximately 85 multilingual employees are based at the office in The Hague and work closely with the national offices in Belgium and Luxembourg.
